Help Me Grow is teaming up with The Literacy Coalition of Hancock County to support families by implementing the Parent Partners program. Through this program, Parent Partners join Help Me Grow service coordinators as they visit the homes of their clients. During these short, 15 minute visits, the Partners share tips and ideas for using Dolly Parton Imagination Library books to build the foundation for strengthening language and reading skills.
Parent Partners will accompany Help Me Grow service coordinators to a minimum of four home visitations with at least one family. The Parent Partners will have the option to visit more than one family and may choose to visit more frequently than four times.
Each volunteer will attend two three-hour training sessions in which a Parent Partner facilitator will model and explain reading strategies aligned with the Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards for Language and Literacy. Lessons will have easy-to-follow instructions along with growth tips and a variety of ideas to stimulate conversation and support children’s learning using the Imagination Library books.
